Performance Online - Journal of Musical Interpretation tries to reflect the growing interest and production of research on musical performance, by publishing the results of the research undertaken by different musicological areas on this subject.This project is an outcome of the collaboration between CESEM (Centre for Sociology and Musical Aesthetics Studies - Nova University in Lisbon) and UNICA (University of Aveiro).

The project will adopt a multidisciplinary and international approach.The journal will follow a bilingual format - Portuguese and English - and will publish empirical and theoretical research, stressing a varied approach of musical interpretation research that will focus on cognitive and expressive aspects as well as on the body as carrier of meaning and cultural construction in processes of musical interpretation.
